Cold War Conversations
This is a FINAL CALL-OUT to older artists for jpgs of their interventions in art supporting peace and anti-nuclear protests during the 1980s.
We’re preparing a small exhibition at MERZ in South West Scotland to open on 9th November 2024, the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, marking the pause rather than end to the Cold War.
The exhibition hopes to link artist engagement in anti-nuclear peace campaigns, protests and marches in the 1980s with contemporary activity.
Please send a jpg of a single photo or still from a film/artwork from your involvement, together with a paragraph to provide context, to hello@merz.gallery.
The submission should arrive by Sunday 19th October along with credits and (where required) copyright clearance for inclusion in the exhibition Cold War Conversations. Agreement is assumed for the exhibition material to be reproduced as a pdf/digital file at A4 size for circulation as catalogue to those participating via email.
We’re interested in photographs and recollections of anti-nuclear protests of all shapes and sizes, not least from Greenham Common, Faslane Peace Camp, CND protests, Seneca Women’s Encampment and the New York shop-front protests.
There’s no charge to exhibit but cash donations are welcome.
