Sanquhar Post Office : Barry Ford

As part of the 2025 MERZ mail art EXHIBITION Postmaster Barry Ford relates the story of the postal service from before the post offices were established up till the arrival of the Penny Post. The Penny Post provided the opportunity for working people to use the service, not least to benefit from the introduction of correspondence courses. The 2025 MERZ mail art EXHIBITION extends the literacy and communication emphasis of last year’s stained glass to focus on poetry, metaphor and the value of local language dialect and meaning.
