Calum Wallis & Rhona Jack
Calum Wallis and Rhona Jack have been the artists in residence at MERZ since March. With additional support from Creative Scotland they have been able to extend their two month stay into May while Covid-19 affected travel. Their exhibition of kinetic sculptures will be on display inside MERZ for the Sanquhar Arts Festival over the weekend of 22nd-25th May, and for the foreseeable future to a time when we will be able to arrange visits.
In the meantime over the last two months the artists have been displaying large drawings of their work on the outside wall of the gallery, providing an ‘Inside : Outside’ exhibition.
These drawings are being transferred beneath the sheltered eaves of the MERZ work-shed. As part of their extended stay Rhona and Calum are completing a mural-size drawing for a wall on the Museum of Model Art site.
Rhona and Calum have been editing a film of their work while MERZ is also making a documentary of their working experience: both films will be published here and elsewhere in due course.
